Our History
A five generation Farm
The Porter Farm was first bought by Fred Porter March 13, 1913. Then on July 30, 1923 Cliff and Ede Porter started operating the farm. Roger and Jeanette Porter purchased the farm May 8th 1948. During this time anything from dairy, pigs, chickens, horses, and beef were raised.
The land was planted in wheat, soy beans, oats, alfalfa, corn, and sugar beets through the years. Allen Porter bought some of the land and the first strawberries were planted in 1986, and were sold commercially in 1988 starting with a 1/2 acre plot while trying different varieties of strawberries. One of the varities of strawberries was Honeoye and has been planted on our land ever since. Now we have two different varieties which are Honeoye and Jewel.
Troy Porter bought the farm on October 6th 2006 .Then In 2007 he started operating the strawberry farm. Since then, we have expanded to offer many fruits & vegetables at the retail farm store. This will be the 23rd season growing strawberries. The farm is now operated by Grandfather, Grandmother, son, grandson and granddaughter.
